I don't know about you, but I hear this a lot: "No one should have to go through what I went through in my divorce."

I also hear: "I wish I would have looked around a little more before I settled on my attorney/therapist."

Both of those statements, and the frequency with which I hear them, tell me a lot. They tell me that there's a bunch of us out there that wish we'd done something differently during a divorce. Maybe we would have been less pig-headed; maybe we have been more focused on the kids and less on our spouse's infidelity. Maybe we would have used a different method of divorce that protected us better. Maybe we would have looked a little harder at our financial future.

Those statements can also be extended to people we know. Sometimes it's not us that got divorced; sometimes it's our best friend, a sibling, our parents...divorce hits a lot of people in a lot of different ways.

Integrated Divorce Solutions (IDS) is a NEW program being developed by therapists, attorneys, financial advisors, and others involved in the divorce process. IDS builds on the great work of the mediation movement, the collaborative law process, and well-respected therapeutic models. It also incorporates Integrative Transition Therapy, a new model of helping families transition through the divorce process.
